Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Wow, yesterday was weird. I woke up and it was like the twilight zone. I had seemed to lose an hour of my life. The radio was saying 9 am, but my watch said 8 am. Then I realized I must have been taken up by an alien spacecraft and was the subject of some strange anatomical experiments while in this time warp. I had no scars, bruises and otherwise felt fine. But where was I during that missing hour? Now today the sun is setting later. Odd – real odd.
The request or give permits thread seems to be working. I’m getting emails from people who are linking up with folks who did not need all of their permits after all. As I learn of them I will take them off the request line. So if you connect, let me know so we can reduce the clog.
Try to attend the Yosemite Conservancy Spring Forum at the park on March 26. A highlight for me is the 9 am presentation by the Park Superintendent, Don Neubacher.
He gives a “state of the park” presentation and does a Q&A. Hit him with your Half Dome permits questions. Nothing like the hot seat! If you decide to come, a few of us are doing a Yosemite Falls hike at 9 am Sunday. It will be snowy and slick up top so good boots and hiking poles are mandatory. Joining us will be Jayah Faye Paley, the Pacifica trekking pole guress. She is also giving FREE classes as part of the Forum. Click <HERE> to register. You can see the full agenda. Don’t be a Yosemite Poser – be there! We leave the Yosemite Lodge at 9 am. Lemme know.
I am talking Half Dome at REI San Fran on Brannon Wednesday night…7 pm. C U there. I have a drawing for a bottle of Carpe Diem wine. $26 at BevMo . . . good stuff.
