Photographing Half Dome from afar

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
I stumbled onto a website that provides “open source” photos of various places around the world. It’s a Google beta product called Knol – which is supossed to  mean a unit of knowledge. The tag line reads: Detailed Photo Guides… Written by photographers for photographers. The idea is for photographers to post shots from interesting places worldwide. The page I found was created by Rick Whitacker. No “about” is given on his location, experience, etc. but he contributed content called “Photographer’s Guide to Half Dome.” Click <HERE>

He displays very good quality photos from 7 vantage points around the park. You probably have the same shots in your Brownie, but these are very high resolution with dramatic color and lighting.  What missing is a photo from Cloud’s Rest and there are none close to the dome, shots of the cables, visor or top.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Another Pleasant Valley Sunday here in status symbol land. Mothers complain about how hard life is and the kids just don’t understand.” – The Monkees
