3 day weekend

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Get or Give Half Dome permits<HERE>

Labor Day – ladies go to it!!

Yosemite will be jammed as folks try to cram in one last trip. That’s why I’m not going. My next HD expedition is Sept 11. Expect to see this scene at the entrance gates. The sign says “All campgrounds FULL.”

The park is pretty nice after Labor Day week.  Temps this weekend will be hot and steamy, but remember how much rain and snow we got last year. Enjoy. “The West is the Best,” sung Jim Morrison of the Doors. “Get here and we’ll do the rest.” Amen Bro.

Here’s an interesting PSAR sign seen at the Happy Isles trailhead.

If you can’t read it on your smart phone, here’s what it says: Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of death at Yosemite. Hiking and scrambling are the 2nd. The number 1 cause of death is climbing. Actually, I’m sure it’s falling when climbing.
On a happier note, this photo is NOT staged. I swear that on my last hike up Half Dome while a good 30 yards ahead of my group, I looked down saw this.

A neatly folded $20 bill. Musta fell out of someone’s pocket . Guess it pays to lead! It went to pizza at Curry that night. Sweeeet.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Riding ’round town with all the windows down. 8-track playin’ all your favorite sounds.  The rhythm of the bongos fill the park. The street musicians tryin’ to get a start. ‘Cause it’s summer – summer time is here. Yes it’s summer . . . my time of year.” – War

The fall does not kill you, it is the sudden impact afterwards.

Nice one Rick, that looks like a 20 I dropped on the trail back in 2007…if you could stick it in an airmail for me that would be great.
