Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Earlier in April the judge at Yosemite hit his gravel and Bruce Davis, a former employee of the Delaware North Company, the park’s primary concessionaire, was found guilty skimming over $14K from DNC. He embezzled funds through the fraudulent use of gift certificates while he was as a manager from 2006 through 2009. He took DNC gift certificates, which were supposed to be used in guest services or as an incentive to his employees. He then exchanged them them for personal items and cash. Over 4 years, Davis misappropriated $14,975. He got 60 days in custody and must pay back the dough.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “No other tree in the world has looked down onso many centuries as the Sequoia, or opens such impressive and suggestive views into history.” – John Muir, 1894

Sequoia are the most massive, but not the oldest.

Let’s not nit-pick John Muir’s sentiment. So the Wizard of Google reveals that the world’s oldest recorded tree is a 9,550 year old spruce in the Dalarna province of Sweden.
