Old Priest Grade again

Sonora based Kathy L. provided today’s news tip. We blogged  a lot about the Old Priest Grade days back. Well, the old rickety and STEEP road is getting a facelift. This road is the Highway 120 link that ascents up Grizzly Gulch at Moccasin and takes Yosemite visitors into Big Oak Flat. The original road was a horse and wagon road that was rerouted to the gentler version just to the north. Speeds are limited to 25 mph, but I go about 15 – it’s that scary. Going downhill the 4 miles is a good way to burn your brakes. The surface will be repaved and the old guardrail will be replaced to cover every turn where there a danger – like the whole thing!
