REI presentations

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
I talked at REI Mt. View last night. This followed San Francisco and Marina the 2 days before. Good crowds at them all. Over 70 last night.  I hope you all enjoyed my little April Fool prank – don’t worry Half Dome is still intact as it has been for eons. I even had my wife fooled. I played the joke on the crowd last night and had them gasping.

Standing room only

If you have not been to one of these shows, check out the SCHEDULE link on my website. The traveling band will be at a burg near you soon. REI has a new “pre register” process. Just call the store in advance to ensure they have enough seats. And I don’t care if you sit on another person’s lap or on the floor. We just can’t exceed the fire code. I’d love to video the talk and make it available. Hmmm, a new business opportunity? A bonus to coming is that I am having a drawing for a nice bottle of Carpe Diem wine. Carpe Diem is Latin for Seize the Day. My small business supporting my habit is called Carpe Deim Experience, so this is a good connection. It’s great wine, also. About $25 at BevMo. But wait there’s more – I also have a drawing for Half Dome permits. We’ve given away 16 so far this year. Perfect for those who did not get theirs the hard way – 7 am March 1 or April 1. Mark your calendar for May 1. That is the last chance for permits – September and October will go then. is the site. Go there now, register, read the advice and practice booking. It will pay off later. Oh, I can also do private training sessions for your group. Send me an email.

Thanks for the presentation Rick and great job. I love your blog. In fact, it was reading your blog that first inspired me to take on Half Dome this summer for the first time.
