At the park – Day 2

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
A short one today. It’s after 8 and I am Curry and my brain is fried. The whole day from early until now was at the Yosemite Assn Spring Forum. A great session. I did a book signing and I think we sold about 25.  Sweet.  I will give yall a good report tomorrow. In the meantime – this one is on you. What is this bldg in Cook’s Meadow?

Just off the Sentinel Bridge area. It looks like an unoccupied house with has boarded up windows. Do any of you old timers know what it is?  I don’t.  Please help via the comment page.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “There is a house in New Orleans they call the Rising Sun. And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy and God I know I’m one.” – The Animals

  1. RJ Says:

Former superintendent’s residence, most recently used as the resources management offices (pre-flood).

      RJ,

Thanks. You win a laurel and hearty handshake. Seriously, why do you think it’s boarded up? Any clue when it ceased to be used? Seems like the NPS could use the space for something. Looks like a fine bldg from the outside.

Thanks for the answer – I, too, was curious, had seen it, but had no response!

  3. ESP Says:

Residence 1. It used to be the Sup’t’s house but it has suffered damage in flooding events and has been left in disrepair for the last decade or so. The surrounding grounds remain a prime location for weddings, picnics, art and yoga classes, and other events.

Thanks! Good work. It does seem like a prme target for the 1997 flood. Cooks Meadow was under about 8 feet of water. Some guy yesterday told me that human body parts were found in it (?). Hmmm – An Alfred Hitchcock set?
