Crickit Update

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
A horse named Crickit used to watch traffic go by on Highway 120 eight miles east of Oakdale. He stood there watching through the early 1990’s. I don’t know when he died. A fence mounted memorial still stands. On my recent trip to the park in February, my mates and I continued to honor the old boy with a new decoration.

I think it’s cool that normal people loved that horse so much that they continue to think of him. On your way to Half Dome, set your trip meter to zero exiting Oakdale. Look to your left at 8 miles. There is a short pull-out on the right so you can safely pay your respects.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “A horse is a horse of course of course and no one can talk to a horse, Of course. That is, of course unless the horse is the famous Mister Ed!” – American TV sitcom, 1961-66
