Twitter info

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
I don’t tweet or do MyFace etc. I am too busy living life – no time to record my every step. But if you have bought into the social network craze, here is some info for you. Yosemite is trying Twitter as a way to communicate with the masses. They found it useful during the “Controlled Burn” fire that got out of control. If you are interested, the park’s two official Twitter sites are YosemiteNPS at http://twitter.com/YosemiteNPS and YosemiteScience at http://twitter.com/YosemiteScience. One or both post daily updates. You don’t even need an account with Twitter to read the posts. Be aware of the risks of downloading a virus or the swine flu. Users should maintain their computers with up-to-date OS and antivirus patches. This is only a trial run and will allow the NPS to test potential bandwidth needs and Twitter’s usefulness to the support  the NPS. While checking out the links I saw this news:  Tioga and Glacier Point Roads are closed due to snow. Tire chains required on Wawona Road (Hwy 41). Snow level around 5,000 ft.

Preview: Tune in tomorrow to  read my summary of the formal Settlement Agreement in the lawsuits concerning the Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP).

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Now when I was a little boy, at the age of five. I had somethin’ in my pocket, keep a lot of folks alive. Now I’m a man, made twenty-one, you know baby, we can have a lot of fun.” – Bo Didley

Tioga Road snowed in already eh?…just seems like yesterday we were sunbathing up at Cathedral Lakes!

  2. Kathy Says:

Sonora Pass was also closed. Sonora Pass and Glacier Point are now re-opened. A system that went through Sat. night/Sunday brought snow to Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove and closed all passes for a couple of days.
