Yosemite Birthday and Discount on NPS DVDs

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Birthda Cake

Yosemite was made a National Park on Oct 1, 1890. Blow out the candles! Oh oh, is this a “prescribed burn?”  I haven’t heard of any lynchings yet on that fiasco.

By now you have plunked down on your couch for 8 hours worth of the NPS Ken Burns extravaganza. If you did not see it all, you can view it on your laptop from the comfort of your bed at the PBS website. As this is the seminal work on all the parks, you may want to have it for those upcoming rainy days this winter. If so, you can order it off the same PBS website. The 6 disk DVD box set lists for $99.00. They also try to hawk the book, the CD and other stuff like the NPS scrabble game (?). Now get this – if you use the promo code park1, you get 15% off…then they are having a 15% off your whole order special…so I just booked it for $80. Then add tax and shipping. Not bad. And if you are really hungry to spend coin, get the NPS Pendleton blanket and the NPS UNO game. Popcorn not included.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “It’s wonderful to be here, it’s certainly a thrill. You’re such a lovely audience, We’d like to take you home with us, We’d love to take you home.” –  Sgt. Pepper, The Beatles
